Understanding Hemorrhoids and Peristal Compatibility
Hemorrhoids are a common condition involving swollen veins in the lower rectum and anus. They can develop internally (inside the anal canal) or externally (near the anal opening), and it is possible to experience both types simultaneously.
The symptoms, progression, and recommended treatments vary significantly based on their location and severity.
Internal Hemorrhoid Classification
Internal hemorrhoids are categorized into four degrees (grades) of severity. While bleeding can occur at any stage, the Peristal® is specifically designed for use with Grade 1 and Grade 2 internal hemorrhoids.

| Grade 3 | Hemorrhoids prolapse during bowel movements and require manual reduction (must be pushed back in). | Incompatible |
| Grade 4 | Hemorrhoids are permanently prolapsed and cannot be pushed back in. This stage includes thrombosed hemorrhoids (blood clots) or rectal mucosa prolapse. | Incompatible |
